According to the Richmond-Times Dispatch, 10 men and women died in 10 accidents across Virginia over the Memorial Day weekend, compared to seven last year.
Of the 10 people killed in Virginia auto accidents, three were motorcyclists and one was a pedestrian. Some of them occurred in Virginia Beach, among other places in Virginia.

A Virginia Beach man is dead after law enforcement officials say he had been drinking and not wearing a seatbelt, according to WAVY.com.
The 20-year-old Virginia Beach man was driving a Ford Focus. He veered off the highway, hit a light pole and overturn several times.

The Roanoke Times reports Roanoke County police officers want to promote safety during the Memorial Day weekend, which is one of the deadliest Virginia highway holidays.
Virginia seat belt usage still lags the nation. About 82 percents of motorists in Virginia used seatbelts, compared to the U.S. average of 84 percent.
Virginia also logged 756 traffic fatalities in 2009, the lowest since Virginia traffic death counts began in 1966.

A high-speed Virginia Beach motorcycle accident has left one man dead.
The Daily Press reports that a 37-year-old was driving his Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle down London Bridge Road in Virginia Beach and was struck by a Lincoln Town Car.
The 37-year-old motorcycle driver was thrown from his motorcycle, and the Virginia Beach man driving the Lincoln Town Car is being charged with driving under the influence.

A 20-year-old woman who was injured in a car accident was left in critical condition in a Roanoke, Virginia, hospital.
The woman was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after the accident that happened at the intersection of U.S. 58 and Carver Road. According to the Martinsville Bulletin, she was driving an Isuzu Trooper that hit a tree past the intersection.
The article reported that four others were in the car when the Roanoke auto accident happened. A Virginia State Police Trooper said the 20-year-old appeared to be the most seriously injured.

Richmond Times-Dispatch reported a Virginia car accident occurred on Interstate 295 last Friday evening, in which a man and a woman were killed.
A 71-year-old man caused the Richmond auto accident when his car crossed the median and crashed into another car coming from the opposite direction.
A 38-year-old man and a female passenger were killed as a result of the Virginia auto accident.
The elderly man who caused the Richmond car accident suffered minor injuries and was treated at VCU Medical Center. Police stated they charged the man with reckless driving.

WTVR-TV reported a number of complaints were filed regarding traffic lights at the intersection of North First and East Grace in Richmond, which are causing a number of Virginia auto accidents.
Two Richmond auto accidents were reported at the intersection in 2007. An additional two accidents were reported in 2008 and then eight accidents were reported in 2009.
There was a Richmond car accident at the intersection over the weekend, which led officials to investigate the number of accidents occurring at the same intersection.
Officials are looking into taking appropriate steps to redesign the traffic lights at the intersection to help prevent further Richmond auto accidents.

The Inquisitr reported 50 cars were involved in a pileup in a Williamsburg auto accident on Wednesday morning.
Police stated the Virginia auto accident on Interstate 64 was caused by whiteout conditions due to the snow storm.
There were no reported fatalities as a result of Williamsburg car accident, although seven people were taken to the local hospital with minor injuries.

Daily Press reported a 24-year-old man was charged for driving under the influence of alcohol when he caused a Norfolk auto accident early Saturday morning.
Five passengers were in the BMW when the driver lost control of his car and hit a tree.
Two passengers were found dead at the scene of the Virginia auto accident.
One passenger remains in critical condition at a local hospital and two other passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries in the Norfolk car accident.
