Newport News Teen Charged with DUI in 2-Vehicle Crash

A two-vehicle crash in Newport News, Virginia, last month ended with three people hospitalized for injuries. Police now say that the 17-year-old driver who caused the crash had been drinking and has been charged with two counts of DUI Maiming, DUI first offense, Reckless Driving, and Underage Possession of Alcohol.

From the beginning, Police told WAVY that they believed alcohol played a role in the crash, after which one person remained in critical condition. Two others were in serious but stable condition.

The accident occurred June 8, 2011, near the intersection of Lucas Creek Road and Cabell Drive around 8:01 p.m. when a yellow Volkswagen driven by the teenager was traveling north on Lucas Creek. The Volkswagon collided head-on with a red Nissan traveling south on Lucas Creek.

The red Nissan contained a driver and a child, and the Volkswagon contained only the driver.

All three people were taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center.

The teen’s first hearing is set for July 11.

No money awarded in Virginia wrongful death suit

According to the Free Lance-Star, the beneficiaries of the Virginia wrongful death suit were not awarded any money by the county employees.

The Virginia wrongful death suit was filed for an 82-year-old woman who was killed by three pit bulls in March 2005. A neighbor who owned the pit bulls was sentenced for three years in prison for involuntary manslaughter charges.

The Virginia wrongful death suit was filed against four animal control officers for gross negligence for not removing the pit bulls when they were called prior to the accident.

Lawsuit filed for Virginia Beach auto accident

According to the Virginian-Pilot, a lawsuit was filed against the estate of the driver who caused a Virginia auto accident last November.

The 18-year-old driver was driving his Volkswagon with two teenage passengers when his car drove across the center line and crashed into a van.

All three teenagers were killed in the Virginia Beach auto accident and the driver of the van was seriously injured.

The driver of the van is suing for $1 million and the families of the two teenage passengers are suing for $2 million against the estate of the teenage driver who caused the Virginia Beach car accident.

One person killed, another injured in Norfolk auto accident

According to the Virginian-Pilot, one person was killed and another person was seriously injured as a result of a Virginia auto accident early Saturday morning.

One car was driving on Northampton Boulevard when it was hit from behind by a second car traveling at a high rate of speed. The first car then hit a third car in the Norfolk auto accident.

The driver of the third car was pronounced dead at the scene of the Norfolk car accident and a passenger in the third car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Roanoke Times reported four cars were involved in a Virginia auto accident on Friday afternoon.

Infant suffered severe Virginia dog bite injuries
